Family, Food, Fun, Snow, Snow and more SNOW!

What an amazing adventure!!!! Dustin and Teycee planned a destination wedding at Silcox Hut atop Mt. Hood in Oregon on February 28, 2011. The night before my aunt Sheila (Dustin's mom) made an awesome rehersal dinner for all 40 or so guests and we enjoyed getting to meet Teycee's family along with her and Dustin's friends. The next morning we started the day off by just kinda relaxing, hanging out, and taking a dip in the hot tub down by the river while it snowed on us...but once we got word that the snow storm was coming (and a possible 3 feet of snow to fall) everyone went into crazy mode! We quickly got showered, grabbed our clothes, and headed up the mountain to Timberline Lodge, which is about half way up the mountain and the farthest point to which you could drive. Driving in those snow conditions was definitely an experience! And when we stepped out of the car the cold and wind took your breath away, not to mention that you sunk in the snow above the knees!!! After taking a few minutes to finish getting ready, we were able to relax again, eat some lunch and venture around inside the beautiful lodge. We were all amazed at the snow... the lodge was 4 stories high and in most places the snow was all the way up to the 3rd floor! Our next step was to ride in a snow cat the rest of the way up the mountain to Silcox Hut, where the wedding and reception took place. Again another once in a lifetime experience! We piled in the snow cats and with no visability headed up! When we arrived at Silcox Hut it was simply beautiful!!! The wedding was absolutely perfect! The reception was great and so very touching! ..... Getting back down the mountain.... oh man, I don't even know that I have words for it... lets just say crazy, scary driving conditions, cars sliding and getting stuck, tree limbs and power lines down... we didn't even go to bed... just packed up and headed straight to the airport so that we didn't get stuck there!!! And I would do it all again tomorrow!!!!
